Abstract

What does it truly take to fight diseases in the 21st century? In this session, Nobel Laureates from different disciplines will reflect on how fundamental discovery becomes lifesaving medicine. From molecular mechanisms and computational insights to challenging dogma and defeating threats by infectious diseases, the discussion asks: Where do the next breakthroughs come from? How do we balance curiosity-driven research with urgent global needs? What barriers slow translation to patients? How can young researchers accelerate progress? The session explores how courage, collaboration, and creativity shape the future of disease prevention and treatment.
