Master Class: Applications of the Mechanical Effects of Light

Wednesday, 1 July 2015
15:00 - 16:30 hrs CEST

Abstract

Light can apply forces to material objects ranging from atoms and ions to living cells. Applications include the production of ultra-cold, optically trapped atomic gases and the use of optical tweezers to study biological and biochemical processes. This master class is open to the discussion of any of the subjects where the mechanical action of light is central to or enables new research.
